Every student at Koonung studies either French or Japanese as an additional language. To complement our language program the College has developed strong relationshipwith our sister schools in France and Japan. There are regular visits between our schools providing students with the opportunity to participate in extended in-country study tours to further enhance their language development and build a deeper cultural understanding.
Students in Years 10 and 11 have the opportunity to participate in our biennial World Challenge event. Students have previously travelled to places such as Nepal and Costa Rica. Future trips will include travelling to Swaziland and Mozambique where they will participate in trekking and community service programs.
Our Sister School is Matsudo Municipal High School located in Matsudo City, north of Tokyo in Chiba Prefecture.
Our Sister School is Lycee Saint Charles Baudimont located in the City of Arras, in Northern France. We have had many exchanges that have advanced our student's skills in French and given them a deeper understanding and appreciation of the French culture.
Our extensive camps program includes whole year level camps at Years 7 and 9 and additional opportunities to be involved in our Ski Camp and Great Victorian Bike ride. These prorams enable students to develop leadership and strong communications skills. Students develop across year level friendships and learn how to work as a team. Each camp exposes students to enjoyable yet challenging activities and experiences that can not be achieved in a normal school environment.
